Kaila grew up in Oxford, Connecticut and started dancing at the young age of 2. She received her training in ballet, jazz, and tap at Kicks Dance Center in Shelton, CT. When Kaila entered high school, she joined her school’s dance team where she fell in love with hip hop. Her competitive dance team at Masuk High School competed with the Universal Dance Association (UDA) in hip hop, jazz, and pom in both local and national competitions. Her team won first place in the state in the categories of jazz and hip hop in 2006 and 2007.
She followed this dance team tradition into her college years when she danced for, then coached the Keene State College dance team in Keene, NH. In her second year as head coach of this team (2011), Kaila worked hard to qualify her dancers to compete in their first UDA national competition in Orlando, FL. She then graduated with two bachelor’s degrees. The first degree is in Early Childhood Education and the second is in Wellness and Movement, which is a collaboration of Health Science and Dance.
After graduation, Kaila was ready to move to the sunny state of Florida. Since her move to Saint Augustine in 2011, Kaila has taught at various schools and studios throughout St. John’s and Flagler counties. Her love for dance have given her many opportunities that she is very grateful for. She has been honored to have attended classes and workshops at Broadway Dance Center, STEPS on Broadway in New York, New York as well as the Pulse Tour in Atlantic City, NJ and Young Lions tour in Orlando, FL.
She is blessed to be a member of the Mia Bella family and looks forward to going to “work” every single day with the most talented co-workers, and students a dancer could ask for!
