Karen began her training around various studios in the Daytona Beach area and she attended ballet summer intensives on scholarship at the Boston Ballet, Nutmeg Conservatory, Orlando Ballet, and School of Performing Arts. Karen is a graduate of the University of Utah where she was a member of Utah Ballet and was a recipient of the William F. Christensen Scholarship. While with Utah Ballet she performed in many classical ballets including Bolero, Four Seasons, La Bayadere, Le Sylphide, Paquita, Pas De Combien, Rodeo, Swan Lake, The Tempest, and Valse. After graduating from the University of Utah, Karen was the Ballet Artistic Director for the Creative Arts Academy in Bountiful, Utah for 3 years. She directed and restaged three full-length ballets including Sleeping Beauty, Swan Lake, and Romeo and Juliet. Karen has danced with Hardrive Productions, under the direction of Pamela Bolling and she has had the opportunity to dance with Universal Studios, Disney, The Food Network, Michael Chapman, and Ted Gibson. She was most recently a Las Vegas Finalist for the hit dance reality show, So You Think You Can Dance. Karen has trained in Ballet, Pointe, Character, Modern, Contemporary, and Jazz. She is also certified with the American Ballet Theatre’s ABT® National Training Curriculum in levels Pre-Primary through Level 3. Karen has been teaching and choreographing for over eight years and many of her previous students have been accepted into University Dance Programs and dance professionally in companies around the United States. She enjoys sharing her passion for ballet with positive methods and her goal is to develop dancers with a strong technical and artistic backbone of ballet.
